What do you need to know to fly your Commercial drone?

That’s the question we pose to Brian Wynne, President and CEo of the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International. AAUVSI is the world’s largest nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of unmanned systems and robotics. It represents more than 7,000 members from more than 60 countries involved in the fields of government, industry and academia. Prior to joining AUVSI in January 2015, he was president and CEO of the Electric Drive Transportation Association (EDTA). Is there a right way to view whales and other marine life with a drone?

Today’s guest believes there is, and she’s making it her mission to spread the word.  Alicia Amerson is a marine biologist, drone pilot and instructor, and marine conservation and policy consultant. She is also the founder of AliMoSphere, a start-up company dedicated to protecting our ocean heritage with science, partnerships and technology.

In this edition of the Drone Radio Show, Alicia talks about efforts to educate pilots on how best to fly drones so as not to disturb or cause harm to natural wildlife. She also talks about the beneficial applications of drones in studying or collecting data on marine mammals. And she’ll talk about the highest cause of mortality for biologists in the field and how drones can reduce that risks.

Can A Drone Design A Better Pool?

Perhaps not just yet, but according to today's guest, they definitely speed up the process and save a lot of time and money.  Jim Wolfe is a pool designer from Chesterfield, Missouri. His company, Azpoolz, is a premium pool and spa design concept studio. He designs hundreds of pools every year. In 2017, Jim began using a drone to streamline the process of creating 3D models of his pool designs. By contracting with on-line drone pilot platforms, like drones.io and upsonder.com, Jim was able to extend in drone design services nationwide. In this episode of he drone radio show, Jim talks about how he uses a drone to streamline his design services and how he was able to leverage drone services company’s to expand his business throughout the country.
