Is it really possible to build a UAV company around autonomy with current regulations?

Do you have an idea that could provide benefits to our military?

Then you’re going to be really excited to hear what today’s guest have to say. We’re going to be hearing from three individuals who are part of an innovative technology transfer program in Tampa, Florida. Under an agreement with the US Special Operations Command and the Doolittle Institute, Sofwerx was created to act an intermediary for collaborating with private industry, research labs and academic partners to develop new technol  ogies. In short, Sofwerx is a portal by which the commercial UAS industry can quickly access and jointly develop applications and technologies to solve the most pressing needs of special operations.

Sofwerx is sponsoring a special program called, ThunderDrone, a series of rapid prototyping events that focus on different aspects of drone technology. Industry and academia have been invited to submit their best ideas to the special operations community.

What’s it take to build a drone based business in 2018?

If you asked today’s guest, he would say “Persistence, Flexibility and a lot of thinking outside the box”. Matthew Johnson is President of M3 Aerial Productions and an Instructor at Brandon University UAV Ground School in Canada. In 2015, Matthew launched his drone services company, and like a lot of new small drone based businesses, he struggled to establish his operation. But by continually to refine his business plan and menu of services, Matthew was able to transition the once part-time operation into a full-time, profitbable business. Is there a right way to view whales and other marine life with a drone?

Today’s guest believes there is, and she’s making it her mission to spread the word.  Alicia Amerson is a marine biologist, drone pilot and instructor, and marine conservation and policy consultant. She is also the founder of AliMoSphere, a start-up company dedicated to protecting our ocean heritage with science, partnerships and technology.

Can A Drone Design A Better Pool?

Perhaps not just yet, but according to today's guest, they definitely speed up the process and save a lot of time and money.  Jim Wolfe is a pool designer from Chesterfield, Missouri. His company, Azpoolz, is a premium pool and spa design concept studio. He designs hundreds of pools every year. In 2017, Jim began using a drone to streamline the process of creating 3D models of his pool designs. By contracting with on-line drone pilot platforms, like drones.io and upsonder.com, Jim was able to extend in drone design services nationwide. Have you ever wondered what goes into training first responders on using drones?

Today's guest on the Drone Radio Show has been designing such programs for some time now, and he has some great insights.
